about me

I’m currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Information Management at the iSchool in Syracuse University. While here, I’m focusing on learning technologies that give companies a competitive advantage in the industry. The wide array of courses that I’m taking include - Project Management, Data Science, Information Security, Human Computer Interaction, Cloud Management, Enterprise Risk Management, and Information Systems Analysis. At SU, I’m also a Graduate Assistant for two courses, IST 233 - Introduction to Computer Networking and BPS 233 - Computer Networking for Business Professionals. My responsibilities include preparing, modifying and conducting labs of over 150 students to teach them how to use various networking tools such as NetSpot to optimally design networks, Packet Tracer to simulate networks, and Wireshark to analyze the flow and architecture of packets.

In May 2018, I graduated from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai after completing my Bachelor’s in Information Technology and a Master’s in Business Administration. My Bachelor’s degree focused on providing me key technical skills such as learning a wide variety of programming languages, understanding algorithms, working with databases, and developing and designing websites. It was during my Bachelor’s that I co-founded News By The Hour with my brother to provide hourly news to over 180,000 avid social media followers

In 2016, I decided to pursue an M.B.A. in Finance (with a minor in Marketing) as I have always been interested in the various aspects of the financial industry like the stock market, company valuation, financial modeling, handling mergers and acquisitions, and investment banking. My interests led me through the fascinating journey of learning various market analysis techniques broadly classified into technical and fundamental analyses. I learnt about different valuation techniques such as Discounted Cash Flow and Comparable Analysis and when to use them. I believe understanding the financial industry has really helped me understand about how businesses operate as the main goal of every organization is to maximize shareholder value.

Since the time I can remember I have always been crazy about football (soccer). I’ve represented my country - India at an international stage twice. First, at the Gothia Cup held in Sweden and second, I was one of six Indians to have been selected to train with Bayern Munich in Germany where I geeked out while meeting Thomas Müller

In 2007, after Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone, I was following the news very closely for months after, as it was truly a revolutionary product but my gripe with it was that I wanted to customize certain things which it did not allow me to and while researching a way to what I needed, I stumbled upon something known as jailbreaking. From 2008 to 2016, I have been a part of the jailbreaking community in many capacities, from working and testing actual jailbreaks to developing and testing tweaks to manning the jailbreak IRC channels and also blogging about new developments in the jailbreak community. Jailbreaking iPhones is how I got into technology and that fascination with technology still continues. My personal projects now include hacking with the RaspberryPi to automate my house by making various devices talk to each other using open source Alexa, Home Bridge and a custom web app.
